Thank you for giving us an extraordinarily hotel experience this week. Truly one of the best staff in all the world from the concierge, to the front day staff, to the breakfast staff (especially Felix), to the room staff, spa and maintenance. All so kind and generous. Gracias por brindarnos una experiencia hotelera extraordinaria esta semana. Verdaderamente uno de los mejores empleados del mundo, desde el conserje hasta el personal de recepción, el personal del desayuno (especialmente Félix), el personal de la habitación, el spa y el mantenimiento. A historical gem for a romantic stay in the walled city

Casa San Augustin is a wonderful and stylish boutique hotel, set in 17th century colonial homes. The rooms are comfy, quiet and relaxing, with wooden beams and stonework, spacious bathrooms, great AC (a must). If you can splurge, I highly recommend booking the Premium Suite with garden and jacuzzi (with one caveat - see downsides), perfect to cool off from the Colombian heat; the shared pool is also a bit on the small side. The hotel is ideally located at the heart of the walled city of Cartagena. We explored many restaurants from there (I recommend Uma Cantina and Carmen for the foodies and Tacos del Gordo for a more “hole in the wall” experience). Alma – the hotel’s restaurant – also serves delicious a la carte breakfast and Colombian dishes for lunch and dinner. The staff is very professional and charming. Overall, a great pick in a city with many options.

The garden and jacuzzi in the Premium Suite are directly under the windows of several other rooms on the upper floors. This affects the general privacy, and the management could maybe rearrange the plants to remediate. We reported a couple of times that the water in the shower never got hot (it did in the sink) but rather stayed lukewarm even after running for a while, but this was never addressed.

A charming colonial house in the middle of bustling old Cartagena town that feels like an oasis. Small, cosy and luxurious with understatement. Many colonial and Colombian details reminiscent of Cartagena’s past. An attentive and competent staff.

David is the best concierge in the entire world! He was able to find us a car rental when there were no cars available. He found restaurant reservations for restaurants that are impossible to get into! Truly a magician! We loved our stay in Cartagena because of David!

There is nothing that I did not like about this property. The staff was exceptional, and their goal was to make sure that each and every guest had a wonderful stay and they surpassed this.

Wonderful and authentic way to stay in Cartagena

Hotel was small and beautiful. Breakfast was delicious and included. Staff was exceptional. Because it was small we felt we met everyone staying at the hotel. The rooms are very dark and our keys did not work at all so we had to keep schanhing them. Recommend the hotel highly
